Sporting Kansas City Sign Free Agent Zorhan Bassong

Sporting Kansas City have signed 24 year old leftback Zorhan Bassong as a free agent. Bassong makes his return to MLS after stints in 2023 with two different Romanian clubs. Prior to his time in Romania, Bassong played his club soccer at CF Montreal where he took home a Canadian Championship title in 2021. The Canadian International leftback has 55 first time games to his name where he has recorded 3 assists. 

Sporting Kansas City’s top leftback option at this point still has to be Logan Ndembe. But, after Ndembe tore his ACL in this past MLS Cup Playoffs, he will be out for a few months now. Leftback depth is going to be needed and with only Tim Leibold on their roster, adding a young depth piece like Bassong seems like a very easy move to make.
