Minnesota United Announce Cameron Knowles As New Interim Manager

Minnesota United have announced that Cameron Knowles will take over as the club’s Interim Head Coach after the departure of Sean McAuley from the organization. McAuley was named Interim Manager for the Loons only a few weeks ago. Minnesota United are waiting on the arrival of their new Chief Soccer Officer, Khaled El-Ahmad, before starting their search for their new full time manager.

Cameron Knowles comes into this spot after leading Minnesota United 2 in MLS Next Pro last season. In 52 games managed for Minnesota’s second team, Knowles has led the club to a record of 28 wins and 24 losses. Prior to his time with Minnesota United 2, Knowles managed the Portland Timbers 2 in the USL Championship between 2018 and 2020. During that time he led the Timbers 2 to a record of 30 wins, 12 draws, and 43 losses. This will be his first time being a head coach within a 1st division, giving him a prime opportunity to prove himself and become a lead candidate for the Loon’s full time head coaching gig.
