Colorado Rapids Trade For Jasper Loffelsend And Add HomeGrown Talent

The Colorado Rapids have added two more players heading into the 2024 MLS season; HomeGrown goalkeeper Adam Beaudry and midfielder Jasper Loffelsend. First, the Rapids add 17 keeper Adam Beaudry to a HomeGrown deal. Beaudry is a U.S. U17 international keeper who has made 10 appearances. He also has begun his club career playing for the Colorado Rapids 2 within MLS Next Pro. In 16 professional games at the division 3 level, Beaudry has 3 career clean sheets.

The Rapids also acquired midfielder Jasper Loffelsend from Real Salt Lake in exchange for a 2024 International Roster Spot, a 2025 MLS SuperDraft selection, and $100,000 in conditional GAM. The 26 year old Loffelsend had 59 appearances for RSL after being drafted by them in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft. In those games, he racked up 2 goals, 4 assists, and 3,086 minutes. Loffelsend now heads to Colorado to provide some key depth to a new look Rapids midfield.

I don’t expect Beaudry to play too much of a factor into the Rapids 2024 season, without a doubt he is a signing for the future. But Loffelsend should be a major factor for Armas’s first season with Colorado. Loffelsend has proven to be a more than able role player/spot starter in his two MLS seasons so far. Now, Loffelsend should be expected to play a similar role with the Rapids as they look to dig themselves out of the basement of Major League Soccer. Adding talent like Loffelsend only raises the floor of your club, and shows how much Colorado have shifted their roster building focus this offseason.
