FC Cincinnati Gave Us The Best Moment Of This MLS Quarantine

On May 21st FC Cincinnati announced their next manager in club history, Jaap Stam. Stam now becomes the 4th head coach in Cincy’s history following some of the failures from Alan Koch, Yoann Damet, and Ron Jans. Stam comes in with some decent coaching experience from his time with Reading in the English Championship, PEC Zwolle and Feyenoord in the Erediviese. Personally, I like the move; bringing in a Dutch guy to run that similar system to Jans, an experienced defender as a player, and someone with some decent managerial experience. But the best part of this entire move was the FC Cincinnati’s social media post to announce the move.

That man right there… that is not Jaap Stam. Right away MLS Twitter TOOK OFF! Days like the afternoon of May 21st are the reasons why I LOVE MLS Twitter. From the Columbus Crew, to FC Dallas, to the Premier League’s USA account, to so many MLS fans took off with replies to this Tweet. Pictures of Mr. Clean, Brad Friedel, Bob Bradley, and any other bald white guy you could think. I scrolled through Twitter yesterday for two hours just dying at the countless pictures and creative ways that fans of our amazing game in this country piled the shit on top of FC Cincinnati. Stone Cold Steve Austin, Mini Me, Voldemort and more had me crying!

This move just adds to the list of the FC Cincinnati’s shit show time of being a MLS club. Am I happy that at least their social media team took their punches on the chin? 100%! At least someone within the team can take a loss and turn it into a win! With everything going on in today’s world, can we all appreciate the joy that the single social media moment gave us all?

Thank you social media intern for FC Cincinnati, thank you.
